She is the current deputy director of orthopaedics at Redcliffe Hospital and is involved in numerous quality improvement projects, committees, and working groups. In her public role she works closely with junior doctors and medical students and is passionate about supporting the next generation.
She is highly motivated to achieve optimal care and outcomes for her patients through accurate assessment, discussion and education of options (including non operative management), and supporting her patients through the entire journey with a teams based approach.
Michelle’s unique, patient centred “teams based” approach to decision making, in addition to her bubbly personality, make her an ideal person to discuss any upper limb concerns with.
She has a special interest in shoulder arthroplasty, and the care of the female patient, and is well versed in the specific needs and issues that arise in this patient population.
When not at work Michelle enjoys keeping active with running, pilates, the gym, while also spending time with her young family and dogs.
Michelle is an Australian Trained subspecialty orthopaedic surgeon with a broad range of life and surgical experience. She has travelled and lived widely throughout Australia. She commenced her working career as a registered nurse in the operating suite, emergency department, and intensive care environments, prior to traveling down the medical and subspecialty surgical pathway. Her interest in sports medicine, injuries, and performance commenced during her initial degree in exercise physiology and has been reinforced over subsequent years with her work with various local and state based sporting clubs in the roles of participant, coach, trainer, and later team doctor.
She further developed her advanced orthopaedic skills whilst undertaking the prestigious Orthocentre Upper Limb Fellowship under the guidance of Dr John Trantalis.
