Dr Peregrine (Perry) Green is a Consultant Cardiologist and Electrophysiologist. He specialises in the management of all heart rhythm disorders, from initial investigation and diagnosis through to definitive treatment, and has experience of working at world-leading international cardiac and electrophysiology centres. His area of expertise is in performing cardiac ablation procedures for arrhythmias (such as atrial fibrillation, supraventricular tachycardia and cardiac ectopy) and cardiac electronic device implantation (including all types of pacemakers, defibrillators, cardiac resynchronisation therapy devices and implantable loop recorders).
Dr Green trained in the UK and qualified from the University of Oxford in 2009 with a First Class BA and Distinction and was also awarded the Margaret Harris Prize on graduation. He obtained Membership of the Royal College of Physicians in 2012, before then undergoing his specialist cardiology and electrophysiology training from 2014 in Oxford and the surrounding region. He has completed British Society of Echocardiography accreditation in transthoracic echo, European Society of Cardiovascular Imaging accreditation in cardiac MRI and British Heart Rhythm Society accreditation in cardiac devices.
Dr Green was also awarded a prestigious British Heart Foundation Clinical Research Training Fellowship, enabling him to undertake a 4 year DPhil (PhD) at the University of Oxford, which he completed in 2022. This work investigated the interaction between cardiac metabolism and cardiac resynchronisation therapy pacemakers, using cutting edge cardiac MRI and catheter lab techniques. In 2022, he won the Young Investigator prize at the Heart Rhythm Congress and the best abstract award at the British Cardiovascular Society Conference, and his research has been published in multiple high impact international journals, such as European Heart Journal and Circulation.
Dr Green finished his specialty training in 2023 and then undertook a subsequent electrophysiology fellowship at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford. He moved to Australia in 2024 to complete an additional 18 month electrophysiology fellowship with Prof. Jon Kalman at the Royal Melbourne Hospital.
He was appointed as a Staff Specialist at the Royal Hobart Hospital in 2025 and is also a Senior Clinical Lecturer at the University of Tasmania Medical School.
Dr Green is accepting referrals at the Hobart Heart Centre, located within Hobart Private Hospital.
