Ralley grew up and completed her medical degree in Tasmania before moving to Melbourne to complete her gastroenterology training. She currently holds public appointments at Monash Health, Austin Health and St Vincent’s hospital Melbourne. As such, she has access to support from their multidisciplinary team meetings if required.
Ralley is soon to complete her PhD in Inflammatory Bowel Disease in pregnancy, for which she received grants from the National Health and Medical Research Council, and Crohn’s Colitis Australia foundation. She has published multiple manuscripts in top level gastroenterology journals, with her work influencing international guidelines for the management of inflammatory bowel disease in pregnancy. Ralley continues to be involved in research, supporting junior medical staff in progressing on their own research journey. She is trained in performing bowel ultrasound and involved in teaching this relatively novel skill to other gastroenterologists. Ralley incorporates the use of bowel ultrasound into the assessment and management of her patients with gastrointestinal symptoms. Ralley has a special interest in the management of inflammatory bowel disease, particularly in pregnancy or in individuals with a wish to conceive, as well as in providing holistic, proactive and sensitive care to those with functional gastrointestinal disorders including irritable bowel syndrome.
