Associate Professor Ronald Siu is a neurologist who graduated from the University of Melbourne with a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery, and Bachelor of Medical Science. During his undergraduate training, he undertook research in cognitive function at the Neuropsychiatry Unit at the Royal Melbourne Hospital.
Dr Siu completed his early postgraduate medical training in Brisbane before relocating to Sydney for advanced training in general medicine and neurology. He subsequently completed his neurology training in New Zealand before returning to Queensland.
He has a strong interest in teaching and research, having completed both a Master of Public Health and a Master of Philosophy. His MPhil thesis focused on a familial form of spinocerebellar ataxia, and he undertook part of this research at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, USA. He holds academic appointments as a Senior Lecturer at the University of Queensland and Associate Professor at Queensland University of Technology and Griffith University.
He is a local examiner for the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and previously served as Academic Lead for Year 3 Medicine at the University of Queensland Rural Clinical Unit in Toowoomba. He was the inaugural Clinical Director of Neurology at Toowoomba Hospital.
Dr Siu provides outpatient services at the Centre for Minimally Invasive Neurosurgery and inpatient care at Sunnybank Private Hospital.
He has a particular interest in headache disorders and botulinum toxin therapy for a range of neurological conditions and has completed the Headache Master program offered by the Australian and New Zealand Headache Society.
