Dr Sarah Cain is a dual fellowship trained neurosurgeon with expertise in both cranial and spinal neurosurgery with a focus on individualised care and utilising the latest technologies to improve patient outcomes.
Dr Cain has completed post fellowship training in anterior and lateral skull base surgery at the prestigious Cambridge University Hospital in United Kingdom. She gained expertise in surgical management of vestibular schwannomas, trigeminal neuralgia, complex skull base meningiomas, pituitary and clival tumours.
Dr Cain also completed post-fellowship training in neuro-oncology through the Brain Cancer Centre in Melbourne, Australia. This work involved surgical management and care of patients with low grade gliomas including coordinating alongside Professor Kate Drummond a world first clinical trial which has been published in the esteemed journal Nature Medicine. Dr Cain is continuing this work as a Walter and Eliza Research Institute (WEHI) research collaborator within the personalised oncology division and The Brain Cancer Centre.
Furthermore, Dr Cain has expertise in minimally invasive and complex spine surgery with a focus on optimising outcomes through a multidisciplinary approach.
Dr Cain currently holds public neurosurgery appointments at The Royal Melbourne Hospital (RMH) and she is part of the Gamma Knife radiation oncology team at The Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre (PMCC). She consults privately at Melbourne Private Hospital (MPH) and on the Mornington Peninsula.
