Mr Satish Warrier is a Consultant Colorectal Surgeon at Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre and Alfred Health, Melbourne Australia.
He specialises in all areas of colorectal surgery particularly the management of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and cancer of the colon and rectum with a focus on hereditary colorectal cancer. Satish is an advanced laparoscopic specialist who practices minimally invasive surgery, including single port surgery. Other areas of expertise include management of advanced pelvic malignancy, peritoneal cancer surgery including cytoreductive surgery and heated intra-peritoneal chemotherapy.
Born in Albury, Satish grew up on the NSW north coast and completed his medical degree at the University of New South Wales. He qualified as a General Surgeon in Victoria in 2009 to become a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. He was awarded the inaugural Covidien Fellowship in Colorectal Surgery at Epworth Healthcare in 2010 and subsequently underwent extensive training in complex cancer surgery at the Cleveland Clinic, USA in 2011. Upon completion of the Colorectal and Surgical Society of Australia and New Zealand (CSSANZ) Fellowship at Alfred Health the following year, Satish became a member of the CSSANZ.
Satish is strongly committed to research, having completed a Master of Surgery on the Management of Young Patients with Colorectal Cancer and published widely in national and international peer reviewed journals. He is the reviewer for multiple peer-reviewed journals. Satish has presented his work in Australia, North America and Europe. In 2012, he was awarded the Association of Coloproctology of Great Britain and Ireland (ACPGBI) travelling fellowship to present his research in Europe.
Mr Warrier is an active member of the gastrointestinal working group, Victorian Cooperative Group, The Cancer Council, Victoria; is a Supervisor of Pre-set Surgical Training at Alfred Health and the Head of Research, Colorectal Department of Alfred Health.
Satish is an avid cricketer, who enjoys playing golf and travelling with his wife and two young children.
