While Stefaan's journey began in sports, notably soccer, an ankle injury saw him redirect his focus towards a career in medicine. Being happily married to a subspecialist in Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MFM) and Diagnostic Ultrasound (DDU) provides a glimpse into his world of academic and scholarly competition. Now, as a devoted father of two energetic boys, his life is filled with endless joy and activity. Beyond professional and family life, Stefaan finds fulfillment in exploration through travel, the adrenaline rush of skiing, the freedom of cycling, a refreshing ocean swim, and the simple pleasure of savoring a fine glass of wine.
Dr Stefaan Pacquée is a Gynaecologist and Certified Specialist in Urogynaecology (CU), holding Australia’s highest awarded qualification in the field of Urogynaecology, recognised by the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RANZCOG). Stefaan received his subspecialty training at renowned institutions such as St George Hospital and Nepean Hospital in Sydney, where he gained comprehensive expertise in pelvic floor ultrasound and urodynamics.
Additionally, Dr Pacquée is a recognised advanced laparoscopic surgeon (level 6) by the Australasian Gynaecological Endoscopy and Surgery (AGES) society. He completed a 2-year subspecialty training in advanced pelvic surgery at Sydney Women’s Endosurgery Centre (SWEC) and is credentialled at a Level 6 Scope of Clinical Practice, encompassing endoscopic procedures at the highest level of complexity.
After graduating with Honours from the University of Antwerp in Belgium, Stefaan pursued his specialty training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology (O&G) in his home country. He undertook further sub-speciality training in Minimal Invasive Surgery and hysteroscopic surgery at Bronovo Hospital in The Netherlands. Additionally, he dedicated himself to sub-specializing in pelvic floor reconstructive surgery at University Hospital Leuven, Belgium.
Stefaan is currently Lecturer in Obstetrics & Gynaecology with the University of NSW. He frequently lectures at local, national and international scientific meetings and was recently awarded for his abstract on transperineal pelvic ultrasound following obstetric anal sphincter injury.
