Dr Varsha Sharma is a subspecialty-trained Hepatobiliary, Pancreatic, and General Surgeon based in Liverpool, NSW. She is a Visiting Medical Officer at Liverpool Public and Sydney Southwest Private Hospitals.
After completing postgraduate Medicine at the University of Sydney, Dr Sharma undertook General Surgery training in Southwestern Sydney. She then completed four years of post-fellowship training, including:
Liver Surgery/Peritoneal Malignancy at St George Hospital
Pancreatic Surgery at Royal North Shore Hospital
AANZHPBA-accredited HPB fellowships at Western Hospital (Melbourne) and Westmead Hospital (Sydney), with combined Esophagogastric and HPB training
Dr Sharma has a strong interest in HPB oncology, particularly pancreatic cancer. She is committed to compassionate, patient-centred, evidence-based care, ensuring patients feel heard and supported. She arranges interpreters for non-English-speaking patients to ensure clear communication.
She is actively involved in surgical education at Liverpool Hospital, is a conjoint lecturer at UNSW, and serves on the Surgery Subcommittee of the Australian Gastrointestinal Trials Group (AGITG).
Dr Sharma also performs general surgical procedures, including open and laparoscopic hernia repairs, and is GESA-accredited for endoscopy and colonoscopy.
