Dr Vasant Rajan is a Brisbane based Colorectal and General Surgeon, available at Sunnybank Private Hospital. Dr Rajan specialises in all aspects of colorectal disease, including bowel cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, diverticular disease, and anorectal and pelvic floor disorders. He is skilled in laparoscopic and minimally invasive techniques, as well as advanced endoscopic procedures via colonoscopy.
In addition to his colorectal expertise, Dr Rajan manages a wide range of general surgical conditions and remains actively involved in general surgical on-call rosters. He completed Advanced General Surgical Training in Sydney through the Royal Prince Alfred and Concord Hospitals, earning his Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) in 2015. He subsequently pursued a Master of Surgery from the University of Sydney, and undertook two years of subspecialty colorectal fellowship training at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Adelaide and Liverpool Hospital in Sydney.
Dr Rajan is accredited by the Conjoint Committee of the Gastroenterological Society of Australia (GESA) for colonoscopies. He is a member of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS) and the Colorectal Surgical Society of Australia and New Zealand (CSSANZ), the leading professional body for colorectal surgeons in the region. He holds public appointments at Logan and Redland Hospitals, where he is committed to developing and delivering high-quality colorectal surgical services.
Dr Rajan collaborates closely with gastroenterologists, general practitioners, and allied health professionals to optimise patient outcomes. Dedicated to ongoing professional development, Dr Rajan stays current with advancements in his field. He is also deeply engaged in the education and mentorship of medical students, residents, surgical trainees, and fellows at his affiliated institutions.
Dr Rajan welcomes urgent referrals from GP and gastroenterologist colleagues and is available to discuss complex cases.
