Dr Vivek Rajasekaran

Dr Vivek Rajasekaran is a Staff specialist paediatric gastroenterologist and hepatologist, and GESA CCRTGE accredited paediatric endoscopist. He has expertise in diagnosing and treating a wide range of conditions including coeliac disease, inflammatory bowel disease, allergic gastrointestinal disorders, gastro-oesophageal reflux disease, functional gut disorders (disorders of gut-brain interaction), and liver diseases.

Dr Rajasekaran graduated from the National University of Singapore, where he commenced initial paediatric training before relocating to New Zealand. He undertook specialist training in paediatric gastroenterology at Starship Children’s Hospital in Auckland, followed by a senior clinical fellowship at Birmingham Children’s Hospital in the United Kingdom. His fellowship focused on clinical nutrition, liver disease, and liver and intestinal transplantation. He subsequently worked as a consultant in the United Kingdom before moving to Newcastle.
