Dr Zeng Yap

Zeng is a general, thyroid and endocrine surgeon who graduated from the University of Melbourne with Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) in 2003. She was trained at St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne and Austin Health during her basic and advanced surgical training. She was awarded Master of Surgery (MS) in 2015 for her research in xenogeneic pancreatic transplant.

After completing her General Surgical training in 2013, Zeng undertook one year of local fellowship training in General Surgery at the Northern Hospital and one year of international fellowship in Thyroid and Endocrine Surgery at the largest robotic thyroidectomy centre in the world, Yonsei University Severance Hospital, Seoul. Zeng acquired the skills to perform robotic thyroidectomy which avoids a scar in the neck, as well as conventional open thyroidectomy, parathyroidectomy, and laparoscopic adrenalectomy.

In addition to endocrine surgery, Zeng also performs a range of general surgical abdominal surgeries, using both the laparoscopic and traditional open techniques, as well as endoscopic procedures.

Zeng is able to converse in English, Cantonese, Mandarin and Malay language. She is a good listener and highly approachable. She will ensure that all patients are seen in a timely manner and that they have a thorough understanding of their surgical conditions and required operations.

Zeng has a public hospital appointment as a General and Endocrine Surgeon at Northern Health and Werribee Mercy Hospital. She is also the supervisor of training for the accredited General Surgery registrars rotating to Werribee Mercy Hospital.
