Specialising in Couples and perinatal mental health conditions.
Dr Dwain Burridge is a consultant psychiatrist, psychodynamic psychotherapist, and Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists. He practises psychiatry the way he believes it should be practised: thoroughly, carefully, and with the relationship at the centre.
He completed a Bachelor of Science with Honours in Psychology at the University of Western Australia before undertaking his medical degree at Notre Dame University, where he was awarded a prestigious scholarship. He has worked across five Australian states in both inpatient and community settings, and has undertaken Advanced Training in child and adolescent psychiatry and completed Core Training in Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP).
His clinical interests include treatment-resistant mood and anxiety disorders, PTSD, ADHD, personality disorders, and the relationship between early attachment experiences and adult mental health. He integrates pharmacotherapy with longer-term individual psychotherapy, and welcomes referrals for individuals aged 17 to 35 who have found previous treatments unhelpful.
Dr Burridge sees outpatients and admits patients to Pine Rivers Private Hospital. He offers both in-person appointments and telehealth consultations. A first appointment is typically 60 minutes and focuses on understanding your story, clarifying diagnosis, and developing a treatment plan together.
