I am both a general and Interventional cardiologist with expertise in the diagnosis and minimally invasive treatment of complex coronary and structural heart disease. I am one of the four Directors at Peninsula Cardiology Group, which has been providing a highly reputable clinical cardiac service to the Northern Beaches population for more than three decades. Having completed my physician and general cardiology training in Sydney, my post doctorate experience has included an academic research fellowship at the Brompton Hospital in the UK under the auspicious direction of Sir Magdi Yacoub; the pioneering heart surgeon.
I’ve further trained in minimally invasive technologies for structural heart diseases including atrial appendage occlusion and correction of congenital cardiac lesions. In particular, I’ve learnt transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) for severe aortic stenosis under the expert guidance of Dr David Hildick-Smith, who is one of Europe’s foremost Interventional operators. I am educated to post-doctoral level with a PhD in cardiac molecular pharmacology from Imperial College, University of London, focusing on the pathophysiology of heart failure. I completed my training as a cardiac research fellow enrolling and supervising the co-running of more than 20 active International clinical trials.
Having a comprehensive published track record coupled with a current Staff Specialist position at Westmead Public Hospital and affiliation with the University of Sydney via the Westmead Applied Research Centre (WARC), I’m engaged at the forefront of academic cardiology.
