Dr Eli Olschewski specialises in hip and knee surgery, including primary and revision joint replacement, sports medicine (including ACL reconstruction and arthroscopy) and trauma. He is technically proficient with computer assisted and laser guided surgical techniques as well as robotic surgery to optimise his patients’ outcomes.
He is actively involved in the training of medical students, junior medical staff, orthopaedic surgery trainees and fellows. Dr Olschewski was the team doctor for Hakoah Sydney City East FC from 2017 to 2021.
Dr Eli Olschewski is currently the Head of the Nepean Private Hospital Orthopaedic Department, Director of Training for orthopaedic registrars at Nepean Public Hospital and an Australian Orthopaedic Association New South Wales, Regional Training Committee Member. He was appointed Senior Clinical Lecturer at the University of Sydney in 2014. He was Chair of the Orthopaedic Morbidity & Mortality Committee at Nepean Public Hospital from 2013 until 2023 and served on the Nepean Hospital Hip Fracture Committee from 2018 until 2023.
Dr Olschewski has over 20 years of experience as an orthopaedic surgeon, having completed his Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in Canada in 2002, before going on to complete further subspecialty training in Australia and Canada. During his training he won several awards, including the Award of Merit for Residents in Surgery. He was certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and granted Fellowship by the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons whilst he practiced in suburban Boston, Massachusetts from 2006 until 2011. He then moved to Australia to be close to family, obtaining Fellowship from the Royal Australian College of Surgeons and Fellowship from the Australian Orthopaedic Association before starting his practice in Sydney.
