Dr Gregory Cranney is a clinical cardiologist with an active interest in cardiac imaging, including transoesophageal echo, stress echo, TOE guided cardioversion and cardiac MRI.
He has been the head of cardiology at Prince of Wales Hospital since 2001, where he also holds a number of clinical leadership and advisory roles. He is also a board member and member of the medical advisory committee of Eastern Heart Clinic.
The recipient of a number of scholarships and grants, Dr Cranney has been a long-term contributor in the field of clinical cardiology and cardiac imaging research. His current research interests include outcomes after cardioversion for atrial fibrillation; assessment of valvular heart disease before and after intervention; and the influence of aging on cardiovascular mechanics.
He is author and contributor to a number of publications on the cardiovascular system, and has published more than 150 journal articles and abstracts on clinical cardiology and imaging.
He has also played an active role in training and mentoring cardiology trainees in New South Wales.
