Dr Hassan Malik

Dr Hassan Malik is a Gold Coast-based General, Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary and Bariatric Surgeon with expertise in general surgery, liver, pancreatic, gallbladder, bile duct, benign upper gastrointestinal and obesity surgery, as well as endoscopy.

He consults privately through the Specialist Network in Benowa and Greenslopes, operates at Gold Coast Private Hospital as a General Surgeon with a focus on HPB and bariatric surgery. Across his public and private practice, Dr Malik provides comprehensive elective and emergency surgical care, with a strong focus on minimally invasive techniques, evidence-based decision-making and patient-centred treatment.

Dr Malik has undertaken extensive subspecialty training in HPB and bariatric surgery, including advanced fellowship training at Gold Coast University Hospital and further HPB surgical training at The Northern Hospital in Melbourne. His earlier experience as an unaccredited surgical registrar in rural Queensland provided a strong foundation in acute surgical management, emergency surgery and regional healthcare delivery.

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr Malik has a longstanding commitment to medical education, supervision and academic development. He has taught medical students and junior doctors through Bond University, Griffith University and The University of Queensland, and served as an Associate Lecturer with UQ for five years. He has also been appointed as an Honorary Adjunct Assistant Professor through Bond University’s HSM Adjunct Committee and contributes to medical training as a WBA AMC Assessor at Gold Coast University Hospital.

Dr Malik remains actively involved in clinical research through Gold Coast University Hospital, with interests in hepatobiliary disease, bariatric surgery outcomes and advances in minimally invasive surgery.
