Dr Helen Gillespie

Dr Helen Gillespie is the Head of Aged Care Northern Beaches Hospital, Healthscope. She is a senior staff specialist in peri-operative care of older persons with an interest in Delirium, Dementia and patient safety. Education is an ongoing interest, presenting at the IAGG-Thailand in 2015, the IPA Taiwan in 2016 and the IAGG USA in 2017. She teaches Sydney university medical students, BPTs, allied health and nursing students. She supervises the geriatric advanced trainee, Dr Gillespie trained at Royal Prince Alfred hospital, Sydney, The London Hospital Whitechapel, King Khalid National Guard Hospital Saudi Arabia- British Ministry of Defence (She taught the first female medical students in Saudi Arabia).

In 1993 she was appointed Consultant Physician in Acute and Geriatric medicine-Professorial unit; Chelsea and Westminster hospital and an Honorary Lecturer Imperial College School of Medicine. She returned to Australia in 2004 and in 2005 became Clinical Director of Rehabilitation and aged Care, moving to the Northern Beaches Hospital in 2018 as head of Aged Care.
