Heshini De Silva is a Rehabilitation Physician specializing in Pain management.
Following Graduation from the University of Wollongong, Dr De Silva completed her training in Rehabilitation Medicine with the Australasian Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine, of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians. This gained her experience in many areas of rehabilitation both in private and public settings, including the Spinal Injuries Unit, Queensland Brain Injury Rehabilitation Service, Gold Coast University Hospital as well as at Gold Coast Private Hospital.
Dr De Silva specializes in pain management tying in her qualifications in psychology, pharmacology and rehabilitation to provide a biopsychosocial approach to the management of pain in a multidisciplinary setting. She has gained further training at the Metro South Pain Rehabilitation Centre in Princess Alexandra Hospital working towards a Fellowship from the Faculty of Pain Medicine, Australia New Zealand College of Anaesthetists.
Dr De Silva’s interest in cancer rehabilitation comes with over 15 years of experience in working with cancer patients. After graduating from the University of Otago, New Zealand in 2003, she worked as a pharmacist in oncology and palliative care both in Australia and New Zealand. This experience together with her experience in rehabilitation well places her to assist patients with improving their function and quality of life in their cancer journey.
Dr De Silva works with General Practitioners in managing their mutual patients alongside a multidisciplinary team of highly skilled health practitioners including physiotherapists, occupational therapists, psychologists, and speech therapists to help patients improve their quality of life following their injury or illness.
