Dr Jamal Merei

Dr Jamal Merei began his surgical training in the United Kingdom where he completed his fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of Glasgow. He attained his fellowship with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) in 2010 after completing general surgery training through the Royal North Shore hospital network. Jamal completed a Doctor of Medicine degree at the University of Melbourne in 1999 after two years of surgical research at the Royal Children’s hospital in the field of birth defects. Dr Merei has extensive experience in paediatric surgery.

Jamal provides expert surgical care for all Gastrointestinal, colorectal conditions including advanced laparoscopic colorectal surgery, endoscopy, and abdominal general surgery such as gallbladder surgery and abdominal wall hernias both open and laparoscopic. He is a GESA accredited endoscopist performing gastroscopies and colonoscopies, as well as a supervisor of Endoscopy for Surgical Trainees.
