Dr Jeffrey van Gangelen is a Specialist General Surgeon focussing on Laparoscopic and Endoscopic surgery, consulting in private practice at the South East Specialist Centre, 112-116 Gipps Street Bega and Woden Dermatology 1/1 Bowes Pl, Phillip ACT and operating at National Capital Private Hosptial Canberra, Brindabella Endoscopy Centre Canberra, Mogo Day Surgery and the South East Regional Hospital.
Dr van Gangelen completed his Medical Degree at the Australian National University and gained fellowship with the prestigious Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS) in Sydney. He is a recognised Gastroscopist and Colonoscopist with the Conjoint Committee for Recognition in Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (CCRTGE) and participates in the rigorous CCRTGE recertification program which ensures his work meets the highest standards when compared to his peers Australia wide.
Dr van Gangelen holds Specialist and General registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
Dr van Gangelen is the South East NSW supervisor of General Surgery training with RACS and is part of the Board of General Surgery training committee. He is the Director of Clinical Training at the South East Regional Hospital. Dr van Gangelen is also a recognised supervisor of Gastroscopy and Colonoscopy training with CCRTGE and a senior lecture at the Australian National University Rural Clinical School.
Dr van Gangelen participates in regular peer review audits and clinical governance activities and is an expert advisor in root cause analysis reviews.
Dr van Gangelen is passionate about supporting third world health care and has performed volunteer work together with his wife, a Paediatric Nurse, in Uganda, Bangladesh and onboard Mercy Ship Africa Benin and Togo.
