Dr Jodie Ellis-Clark is a Sydney colorectal surgeon who treats bowel cancers, anal fissures/fistulas and diverticulitis.
She also performs anal ultrasound and manometry onsite and regularly performs colonoscopies.
Dr Ellis-Clark has a special interest in sacral nerve stimulation for faecal incontinence, as well as pelvic floor dysfunction (rectal only) and constipation/obstructive defaecation.
She has rooms at Kingswood and operates at Nepean Public and Nepean Private Hospital and Somerset Private Hospital Kingswood.
Dr Ellis-Clark is an active member of the Nepean Cancer Care Centre for the Lower Gastrointestinal Cancer Multidisciplinary Team.
Dr Ellis-Clark is a highly experienced laparoscopic colorectal surgeon who surgically treats both cancers and benign disease of the colon.
She has an interest in functional bowel disorders, including the treatment of faecal incontinence, an awkward and embarrassing condition that impacts both women and men, as well as certain types of emptying issues.
Although effective treatments are available for distressing bowel conditions such as faecal incontinence, flatulence, diarrhoea or itchy and painful haemorrhoids, patients seldom volunteer complaints about bowel issues, because they often feel self-conscious or simply feel it’s ‘all part of ageing’.
There are, however, effective treatment and management of these conditions.
Dr Ellis-Clark is able to deliver a compassionate but straight-talking approach to the management plan.
No amount of faecal leakage is normal and especially if this occurs more than once or twice a week, it’s important to see your GP or colorectal specialist.
There can be serious issues causing this, but also some simple management plans that can help.
