Dr. Kumar is a General and colorectal surgeon and endoscopist. He completed his medical degree from B.J. Medical college in 2000 and pursued General surgical training (Masters of surgery, M.S.) from Gujarat University, Ahmedabad, India in 2005. He worked as a consultant surgeon for few years before moving to Australia.
Dr Kumar was accepted onto The Royal Australasian College of Surgeons training programme for general surgery and obtained his FRACS degree in General Surgery in 2020.
He has undergone sub-specialist training in colorectal surgery at QE II Jubilee hospital and Gold Coast University Hospital - arguably leading to vast experience in dealing with the complex patient cohort including colorectal cancers, diverticular disease, Inflammatory bowels disease and anorectal disorders. He has special interest in laparoscopic procedures (Hernias, Gall bladder and Bowel pathology) and video assisted surgery for anal fistulas (VAAFT) and pilonidal sinus disease (EPSIT), He is also GESA accredited for gastroscopy and colonoscopy procedures.
Dr Kumar currently holds public appointments at QE II Jubilee and Redland Hospitals as a staff specialist. He is actively involved in medical research and teaching of medical students, junior doctors and trainee registrars.
Dr Kumar strives to provide personalised, empathetic and holistic care to all his patients focused on developing and delivering an excellent surgical services. He prides in being able to positively influence patients' lives by excellent surgical care and communication. In addition to English, he is fluent in Hindi and Gujarati languages.
