Dr Kian Jin Tan

Mr Kian Jin (K.J.) Tan is a Breast, General Surgeon and Endoscopist who graduated from the University of Melbourne in 2002. He undertook his residency and specialist surgical training at the Austin, Northern and Bendigo Hospitals from 2003 onwards culminating in being admitted as a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2011. Further post-fellowship training in Breast and General Surgery were completed at The Northern Hospital and then St.Vincent’s Hospital, Melbourne.

Mr Tan has keen interests in all benign and malignant breast conditions including mastalgia, Breastscreen detected lesions, palpable breast lumps and patients with a strong family history of breast cancer. He is experienced in nipple and skin sparing mastectomies, level 1 oncoplastic breast surgeries, imaging guided excision of non-palpable lesions and immediate breast reconstruction in  conjunction with plastic surgery teams.

He has obtained Gastroenterological Society of Australia (GESA) accreditation in gastroscopy and colonoscopy and also welcomes patients with general surgical issues such as positive FOBT, hernias, gallstones, skin lesions, carpal tunnel syndromes and vasectomies.
K.J. also maintains his interest in surgical education in his role as an instructor in the College of Surgeons’ Care of the Critically Ill Surgical Patient (CCrISP) courses, as well as supervising surgical trainees and medical students.

He is fluent in Mandarin, Cantonese, Hokkien, Malay and Indonesian.
