Kris Nowakowski is an imaging cardiologist and internationally recognised echocardiography expert with extensive experience in echocardiography, guidance of structural intervention and electrophysiology procedures, valvular heart disease, heart failure, sports cardiology, preventative cardiology and cardio-oncology.
He completed his medical degree at the University of Adelaide, graduating in 2001. He undertook basic physician training at Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney, where he also commenced cardiology training. Kris completed advanced cardiology training at The Prince Charles Hospital, a leading cardiothoracic hospital, in Brisbane following which he gained fellowship experience in general cardiology, electrophysiology and cardiac catheterisation.
He was recognised as a CT coronary angiogram expert and commenced a cardiac imaging fellowship, focusing on stress echocardiography. Kris then undertook an advanced echocardiography fellowship at St Paul’s Hospital in Vancouver, a world-renowned centre for heart valve innovation. He currently works as clinical lead of echocardiography at The Canberra Hospital, where he introduced the use of contrast and strain, 3D transoesophageal, and exercise and dobutamine stress echocardiography.
