Dr Kushwin Rajamani is a Cardiologist with a sub-specialty training in heart rhythm disorders (Cardiac Electrophysiologist).
He has had an extensive international training background in Europe, Australia and USA. He completed medical school in 2003, obtaining an honours degree from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. After completing his internship he relocated to Australia. He completed his basic and advanced physician training in Cardiology at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Sydney in 2011. Thereafter he pursued his PhD studies in diabetes and cardiovascular disease at the Heart Research Institute, Sydney. He undertook a year of clinical fellowship in cardiac electrophysiology at Westmead Hospital, Sydney and proceeded to the Cleveland Clinic, USA(ranked #1 in Cardiology, US world news report) to obtain a further 2 years of training in this field. He has performed more than 2000 ablation procedures, implantation of pacemakers, defibrillators and cardiac resynchronisation therapy devices. He provides a high standard of care in both general cardiology and cardiac electrophysiology.
Kushwin has been actively involved in research to advance the field of cardiology and electrophysiology. He has had several domestic and international invited presentations. He has won numerous research awards for his work in basic and clinical research. He was recently awarded the prestigious NHMRC Neil Hamilton Fairley fellowship.
He is also passionate about philanthropy with a focus on children, clean water and environmental conservation. He has independently built schools across Asia, supported clean water/sanitation projects in Sri Lanka and funded several emergency relief operations in Bangladesh and Africa. He is actively involved in medical missions and travels to Sri Lanka regularly to implant pacemakers in remote regions with limited medical facilities. In 2019 Rotary International awarded him the Paul Harris Fellowship in recognition of his contribution towards humanity.
