Dr Manimaran Sinnathamby

Mr Sinnathamby graduated from Malaysia with MBBS in 2000 and subsequently completed training in General Surgery in 2008. He worked independently as a Consultant General Surgeon managing and performing a wide spectrum of General Surgery cases with particular affection for breast cancer, colorectal cancer, trauma and burns for 4 years before migrating to Perth, Australia in 2012.

During his stay in Perth, Mr Sinnathamby worked in State Major Trauma Unit in Royal Perth Hospital and subsequently as a Breast and Oncoplastic Surgery Fellow in a high-volume Breast Unit in Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital.  He was awarded FRACS by Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in beginning of 2017.

He moved to Darwin in 2017 and is currently the Head of Breast Surgery services in Royal Darwin Hospital with private rooms in MS Breast and General Surgery at Darwin Private Hospital. He is also an Adjunct Senior Lecturer in College of Medicine and Public Health, Flinders University Darwin. He is a member of BreastSurganz and is actively involved in teaching of junior medical staff and medical students as well as in research.

Mr Sinnathamby’s practice includes a wide spectrum of General Surgery such as laparoscopic surgery, bowel surgery, hernia repairs both open and laparoscopic, thyroid and parathyroid conditions, vasectomy, etc. His particular interest is diagnostic and therapeutic surgery of both benign and malignant breast conditions as well as some form of reconstructions. He is GESA accredited for gastroscopy and colonoscopy.

He has multilingual capability as he converses well not only in English, but in Malay and Tamil as well.
