Dr. Abbas is a General Surgeon and Gastrointestinal Endoscopist with a particular interest in Laparoscopic and Open Gastrointestinal, Hernia, Gallbladder and Vascular surgery.
Dr. Abbas successfully completed 5 years of advanced surgical training in general surgery and was awarded the fellowship by the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. Dr Abbas has held many academic posts including Associate Professor at Bond University. He is currently a senior lecturer at Griffith University and a regular tutor of junior doctors and medical students.
Dr Abbas has a particular interest in research and has published well over 20 publications in noted Medical Journals and authored chapter in books.
Dr Abbas has trained and worked in hospitals around the globe including United States of America, New Zealand, United Arab Emirates, India, and Australia. Prior to arriving in Australia Dr Abbas was a qualified General and Vascular Surgeon from India working as a research international associate at the world renowned institute in United States of America, Mayo Clinic, Rochester Minnesota.
On arriving in Australia, Dr Abbas worked and trained extensively in General and Vascular Surgery before being selected for training in general surgery under the auspices of Royal Australasian College of Surgeons.
