Dr Maree Kekeff

Dr Maree is a trained breast surgeon, having worked extensively in the best breast cancer centres in Australia and internationally.

After completing her general surgery fellowship in QLD, she was selected into the highly competitive and esteemed fellowship BreastSurgANZ training to further enhance her breast cancer treatment skills.

She has had the privilege in New Zealand to be under the tutelage of Dr Peter Chin in Tauranga who is world renowned and a leader in his field of oncoplastic breast surgery. At Australia’s leading cancer research and treatment centre; Chris O’ Brien Lifehouse in Sydney, Dr Maree has continued high level development of her surgical skills and at the forefront of breast cancer research.

As a woman, Dr Maree was particularly drawn to the specialty of breast surgery due to an innate understanding of the sensitive nature of breast disease and the complex interplay with both the physical and emotional impact of it. Due to this reason, she developed a mission to create Gold Coast Breast Centre to encompass the multifaceted aspect of breast surgery. She is dedicated to giving back the identity and dignity for women who have suffered from breast cancer. 

Dr Maree's operative training includes:

Wide local excisions (lumpectomy), simple mastectomy and post mastectomy implant based reconstructions, including nipple sparing options.

Breast reduction with lift is a central part of her practice for both malignant and benign conditions.

As a general surgeon, she has expertise in abdominal and inguinal hernias, gallbladder pathology and most general surgical conditions including emergency procedures.

Communication is seen as the most important part of healthcare and she prides herself on the patient's understanding of their diagnosis/surgery and keeping all general practitioners informed throughout, including making herself available to them for all questions and advice.

Dr Maree selected Gold Coast Private as it was an integral part of her junior training on the Gold Coast from when it opened. It offers great care, well designed operating theatres and is in a central health hub location.

When she is not operating Dr Maree enjoys staying fit, traveling and pretending to be a "foodie".
