Dr Marios Efthymiou

Dr Marios Efthymiou is a gastroenterologist with an interest in a wide range of gastrointestinal conditions. He has a particular clinical interest in colorectal cancer screening and advanced endoscopy and its application in managing biliary and pancreatic disorders.

Marios is passionate about achieving positive outcomes for his patients and in particular providing a holistic service ranging from diagnosis, treatment and inpatient management at John Fawkner Private Hospital as part of a multidisciplinary team of surgeons, oncologists and other physicians.

He performs routine gastroscopy, colonoscopy and capsule endoscopy through John Fawkner Private Hospital as well advanced procedures including ERCP, endoscopic ultrasound, treatment of Achalasia and Zenker’s diverticulum. He offers “open-access” gastroscopy and colonoscopy for suitable patients.

Marios graduated from Monash University and completed physician training at the Alfred Hospital with Fellowships in advanced endoscopy through St Vincent’s Hospital and St Michael’s Hospital in Toronto, Canada. He was awarded a Doctorate through Melbourne University for research in gastrointestinal endoscopy. Marios has published widely in the areas of gastroenterology and endoscopy and regularly review manuscripts for several international journals.
