Professor Mark McGuire is a cardiologist and cardiac electrophysiologist.
He graduated in medicine from the University of NSW in 1982 with first class honours and trained at St Vincent’s Hospital, Westmead Hospital and at the Academic Medical Centre in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
Professor McGuire has research interests in supraventricular arrhythmia, atrial fibrillation, cardiac sudden death and arrhythmias in patients with congenital heart disease. He regularly performs cardiac electrophysiological studies and catheter ablations for abnormal heart rhythms.
He is a senior staff specialist at Royal Prince Alfred and Prince of Wales Hospitals and a visiting medical officer at the Mater Hospital, Prince of Wales Private Hospital and Eastern Heart Clinic. He is a clinical professor of medicine at the University of Sydney, and chairman of cardiovascular medicine at Mater Hospital.
He also founded the Cardiac Arrhythmia Service at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital.
