Professor Mark Ross graduated with a degree in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Queensland in 1987. He completed his FRACS in Orthopaedic Surgery in 1996 and undertook a fellowship in Hand and Upper Limb Surgery at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in 1997, before travelling to the USA to undertake a 12-month Fellowship at the Kleinert Institute for Hand and Microsurgery in Louisville, Kentucky.
Professor Ross has also been the recipient of the coveted international fellowships: Australian Hand Surgery Society International Travelling Fellowship in 2007 to the American Society for Surgery of the Hand; and Shoulder and Elbow Society of Australia International Travelling Fellowship in 2007 to the European Society for Shoulder and Elbow Surgery.
Professor Ross is an Associate Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery in the School of Medicine at The University of Queensland. He is the Director of the Upper Limb Fellowship Programme at the Princess Alexandra Hospital, and a co-director of the Brisbane Hand and Upper Limb Research Institute. He is highly published in peer-reviewed journals and has authored various book chapters.
Currently Professor Ross serves as President of Shoulder & Elbow Society of Australia (SESA) and President-Elect of the Australian Hand Surgery Society (AHSS). Dr Ross is the Immediate Past President of Queensland Shoulder Society (QSS) and Past President of Queensland Hand Surgery Society (QHSS). He is also an International Member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand (ASSH) and American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS)
Professor Ross has a particular interest in complex reconstructive and revision surgery, is actively involved in the development of new surgical techniques and new joint replacement technologies.
