PhD The University of Melbourne, Department of Medicine, The Royal Melbourne Hospital. Performed molecular and clinical studies on: vitamin D, the vitamin D receptor, hyperparathyroidism and osteoporosis. Demonstrated the high prevalence of vitamin D deficiency in frail older Australians.
Post-doctoral research conducted overseas on the molecular biology of bone.
Consultant Endocrinologist, Department of Diabetes and Endocrinology, The Royal Melbourne Hospital. Participates actively in the weekly departmental patient audit and multidisciplinary clinical/radiological/histopathological meetings.
Memberships: The Endocrine Society of Australia and The Australasian Diabetes Society.
Research: Numerous first author international publications. Designed, established and led multiple charitably funded, investigator-initiated studies including randomized double-blind placebo-controlled trials. Topics researched subsequent to PhD include: vitamin D, PTH, FGF23, autoimmunity, type 1 diabetes and biology of the GLP-1 receptor.
