Dr Marlon Perera is an Australian trained Urological Surgeon, accredited by the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS) and the Urologic Society of Australia and New Zealand (USANZ).
Marlon has a special interest in Urologic Oncology and completed two-years of additional training in robotic surgery at the prestigious Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC) in New York. In 2023, MSKCC ranked as the top Urologic Center in the world. Marlon obtained a Fulbright Scholarship during this time, becoming the first Australasian urologist to receive this grant. During his tenure at MSKCC, Marlon was awarded the ‘Clinical Research Award’, for the most outstanding research contribution at MSKCC in 2022/23.
Marlon is a leader in clinical research, having completed a PhD (Urology) and published extensively with over 160 peer-reviewed publications in leading journals. Marlon recently published the Practice Update for the 2023 AUA Localised Prostate Cancer guidelines for USA. Further, among his publications, several have been featured heavily in the European, American and British Urologic guidelines. In addition to over $200,000 AUD in research grants, Marlon has been awarded numerous prizes including the Villis Marshall Prize (Best Scientific Paper by Australasian Trainee), RC Bennet Medal (for Best Scientific Paper at Vic RACS, 2017), and the Frank Gardiner Medal (for Best Presentation at Qld USANZ, 2018).
