Dr Keegan completed his training in Sydney Royal Prince Alfred and St George Hospitals, before undertaking further advanced training in pancreaticobiliary medicine, inflammatory bowel disease, and minimally invasive endoscopic management of digestive tract, pancreatic and biliary conditions under renowned experts at St James University Hospital in the United Kingdom and Hôpital Jean Mermoz in France. His research has focused on the improvement of the diagnostic performance and patient outcomes of existing endoscopic techniques.
He has presented the findings of this research in Australia, the USA, and Europe and been published in international scientific journals and medical texts. He is a member of several Australian and International professional societies and is accredited for gastroscopy, colonoscopy, endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) and endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) by the Conjoint Committee for the Recognition of Training in Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.
