Dr Tan graduated from Melbourne University in 1990. and completed her postgraduate training through Monash University. She has worked across a diverse range of areas in public mental health services, including acute inpatient, chronic rehabilitation, crisis team and community mental health settings, mood disorder, eating disorder and mother-baby units, child and adolescent services, forensic services, veterans psychiatry, drug and alcohol and psychogeriatric settings.

Dr tan is available to see patients at The Melbourne Clinic.
