He completed his Bachelor of Science (Physics) and post-graduate Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery at the University of Sydney. He undertook physician training at Royal North Shore Hospital, and specialist cardiology training though the Central Coast and Northern Sydney health networks to attain his Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians. He completed further dedicated training in cardiac intervention and treatment of coronary disease (stenting) through an interventional fellowship at St Vincent’s Hospital, Sydney. He was then awarded the CSANZ scholarship for the UK Interventional Fellowship, which he completed at Wythenshawe Hospital in Manchester, one of the top three busiest hospitals for coronary intervention in the United Kingdom.
In addition to his interventional fellowships, Dr Parkinson has completed a post graduate Master of Medicine (Metabolic Health), which has strengthened his passion for the prevention and treatment of coronary artery disease. Dr Parkinson has a strong focus on patient-centred care and individualising treatment for each patient’s needs. He has authored and contributed to a number of publications and has presented his cardiac research at both national and international conferences.
Outside of work, Dr Parkinson enjoys playing tennis with his wife and enjoying the outdoors of Northern Sydney and the Central Coast.
