Dr Mike Thomas has been a Gold Coast-based orthopaedic surgeon since 2007. He has a busy clinical practice, but is also Clinical Director of Orthopaedics and Trauma Services for Gold Coast Hospital and Health Services, Chairman of the Queensland Directors of Orthopaedics Group, Orthopaedic Surgery Representative on the Surgical Advisory Committee to Queensland Health, Honorary Adjunct Assistant Professor at Bond University School of Medicine. His research into upper-limb conditions has been presented and published nationally and internationally.
Dr Thomas has a particular clinical interest in hand and upper-limb surgery including trauma, joint replacement and arthroscopic surgery.
Dr Thomas has been performing independent medical assessments for many years, particularly for the Department of Veterans Affairs, but he is also very familiar with AMA5 assessments and is a certified impairment rater.
Outside of all of this, Dr Thomas has a busy family life, being the proud father of five children.
