Dr Michael Von Papen

Assoc Professor Michael von Papen graduated from the University of Queensland, then completed surgical training, receiving his FRACS in 2002. Following this Michael undertook further training in colon and rectal surgery through the CSSANZ.

In 2005 Michael took up a consultant post at the Gold Coast University Hospital. He is becoming Director of the Department of Surgery and Head of the Colorectal Unit and previously worked as Director of Surgery and Head of the Colorectal  Unit and Gold Coast University Hospital

Michael consults on all aspects of colorectal surgery. He performs minimally invasive surgery including robotics. He also has a particular interest in abdominal wall reconstruction.

Michael has close affiliation with Griffiths and Bond Universities.  He is part of AMICI, the Australian Minimally Invasive Colorectal Investigators group and thereby contributes to multi centre clinical research.
