Cardiothoracic Surgery

Prof Michael Wilson is a leading cardiothoracic surgeon. Graduating from Sydney University in 1984, he went on to complete his FRACS in general and cardiothoracic surgery at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. Dr Wilson then travelled overseas where he completed a Fellowship in Transplantation Surgery at Stanford University Hospital and a Cardiac Surgery Fellowship at Toronto General Hospital. Dr Wilson has diverse interests in most aspects of cardiothoracic surgery from ischaemic heart disease; including heart failure requiring SVR MV repair CAGS and CRT therapies, to aortic and valvular heart disease with recent experience in transcatheter aortic valves and minimally invasive mitral surgery.

He also has significant clinical experience with mechanical assist devices. Thoracic surgery has been an active interest of Dr Wilson, with contributions in thoracic oncology.
