Dr Michelle Cooper is a general surgeon with a special interest in colorectal and endocrine surgery focusing on the surgical and nonsurgical management of general surgery conditions. Michelle specialises in minimally invasive surgery. Michelle performs diagnostic gastroscopy and colonoscopy.
Michelle completed her Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of surgery at the University of Sydney and graduated with honours.
Michelle completed the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons General Surgery training program in Queensland. She was admitted as a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons as a specialist general surgeon. Michelle subsequently completed a fellowship in colorectal surgery.
Michelle is employed as a staff specialist general surgeon at Gold Coast University Hospital. She is the clinical lead for the Acute Surgical Unit managing emergency general surgery presentations. Michelle is actively involved in the training of medical students, junior doctors and surgical
trainees in both general and endoscopic surgery.
Michelle is actively involved in research, she has published and presented in international journals and conferences and has a passion for teaching. Michelle is a current senior lecturer at Griffith University. Michelle is currently completing her Masters degree at Griffith University in regional block anaesthesia for minimally invasive surgery.
Michelle is a consultant surgeon with admitting rights at Gold Coast Private Hospital and Pindara Private Hospitals.
