Dr Mike Atherton

Dr Michael Atherton is a compassionate psychiatrist based in Bronte, Sydney. With over 18 years of experience, he is dedicated to delivering the highest quality care to his patients. Dr Atherton is The Clinical Director and Medical Superintendent of The Sydney Clinic and a valued member of the Psychiatry team at Healthscope.

Dr Atherton has honed his skills in a range of mental health disciplines over the course of his career. He specializes in treating various psychiatric conditions including psychotic disorders, anxiety disorders, addiction, depression, bipolar disorder, and personality disorders.  Dr Atherton operates with empathy, ensuring a safe and respectful environment at The Sydney Clinic.

In addition to his expertise in general psychiatry, Dr Atherton's qualifications include Fellowship of the Royal Australian & New Zealand College of Psychiatry, the Royal College of Psychiatrist's  MRCPsych (UK), FAChAM, and he is a member of the Faculty of Addiction Psychiatry. He is experienced in aviation psychiatry and collaborates closely with CASA and numerous Australian airlines to provide comprehensive assessments and management. Alongside his clinical practice, Dr Atherton offers services such as criminal medicolegal, family court medicolegal, insurance opinions/reports, shared care, and is also a Workcover provider.

Dr Mike Atherton works with both inpatient admissions and outpatient services.
