A/Prof Mitchell Hansen

A/Prof Hansen is an Australian-trained Adult and Paediatric Neurosurgeon. He completed a prestigious AO fellowship in Complex Spine Surgery at the Toronto Western Hospital in Canada. Having extensive surgical expertise in cranial, spinal and peripheral nerve surgery, he regularly provides presentations and training to other Surgeons nationally and internationally.

He is the previous Past President of the Neurosurgical Society of Australasia and Chair of AO Spine Australia and New Zealand and incumbent Neurosurgical Education officer for AO Spine in the Asia Pacific region. He is the Director of Neurosurgery at Newcastle Private Hospital and Director of AO Spine Centre at John Hunter Hospitals and an Associate Professor at the University of Newcastle.

His private practice, Newcastle Brain and Spine, is located onsite at Newcastle Private Hospital. 

As the Principal Investigator at Newcastle Private Hospital for the international RESTORE study, Associate Professor Hansen leads clinical research to advance patient care and innovative treatments for areas like degenerative lumbar disc disease. With over a decade of experience in clinical trials across many major hospitals, he is committed to supporting local care through international research.
