Dr Nadeeshani Fernando

Nadee was born and raised in Sri Lanka. She graduated from the University of Kelaniya in Sri Lanka in 2005, with First Class Honours and eight Gold Medals. In 2012, she was awarded Doctor of Medicine (MD) from Post Graduate Institute of Medicine, University of Colombo, Sri Lanka. She was awarded the Young Physician of the year in Sri Lanka in 2013, and she migrated to Hobart in the same year. She has 2 lovely boys, and her husband Shan is also a doctor working in Hobart. Nadee was awarded the medal for the Royal Australasian College of Physicians Highest Achievement in Clinical Medicine, Tasmania in 2015. She obtained her Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) in 2018. She has been in Hobart for 8 years with her experience in General medicine going beyond 15 years. In 2018, she started working as a Consultant in General Medicine at Royal Hobart Hospital and as a VMO at Hobart Private Hospital (HPH) and Calvary Hospital, Lenah Valley. She is very passionate about patient care and is confident and capable of managing patients with complex medical issues. Her other main interest is Peri-operative Medicine and is involved in peri operative care for most of the Orthopaedic patients at HPH. Nadee is very empathetic to her patients and works very closely with her patients and colleagues. She is well regarded amongst her patients, colleagues, and the hospital staff. She has a clinic at Hobart Private Consulting Rooms every fortnight where she sees new patients referred by GPs and other healthcare practitioners and follows up her patients discharged from HPH. Nadee is always open to direct communications from GPs and other healthcare practitioners and is happy to facilitate admissions to HPH or to arrange clinic reviews in a timely manner to provide best care for her patients.
