Associate Professor Neil Strathmore trained at the University of Melbourne, Royal Melbourne Hospital and the Massachusetts General Hospital. He has been a member of the RMH Cardiology Department since 1991. He has a wide interest in Cardiology and in training junior doctors. An Associate Professor of the University of Melbourne, he heavily involved with the teaching of medical students in all years of the Doctor of Medicine program and has received many awards for his teaching.
Associate Professor Strathmore is particularly interested in arrhythmias, particularly the management of atrial fibrillation and bradycardias. He has extensive experience in pacemaker and defibrillator implantation and follow-up and has the most experience in Victoria in dealing with cardiac device infections and is referred patients from Victoria, Tasmania and South Australia for extraction of implanted leads and devices.
Associate Professor Strathmore is the Chairman of the Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand Committee on Lead Extraction and a member of the International Board of Heart Rhythm Examiners (IBHRE). He is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians, the Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand, the Heart Rhythm Society and the Melbourne Medical School Academy of Clinical Teachers.
