He is a leading expert in the use of intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) for prostate cancer and stereotactic radiation therapy for treatment of early metastatic disease.

Dr Bowden has been active in numerous clinical trials and key studies investigating radiation therapy treatments for lung, cervix and prostate cancer. In July 2019, his world-leading study TRANSFORM was published in the International Journal of Cancer, evaluating the efficacy of stereotactic radiation therapy for oligometastatic prostate cancer.
