A/Prof. Rami Sorial

Graduated from the University of Sydney medical school and completed his orthopaedic training with the Australian Orthopaedic Association. He subsequently attended joint replacement Fellowships at the Arizona Centre for Joint Replacement, Phoenix, Arizona and at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Boston, Massachusetts. He spent 6 months in a consultant posting in London, UK before returning home to serve as a senior lecturer at the Royal North Shore Hospital for one year.

A/Prof Sorial was appointed as a consultant orthopaedic surgeon to the Nepean Hospital where he has developed a large joint replacement practice over the last 25 years that predominantly focuses on primary complex and revision hip and knee surgery. He is a consultant orthopaedic surgeon at the Nepean Private Hospital and Macquarie University Hospital.

A/Prof Sorial has a strong interest in teaching and training which led him to a long service period as NSW chair of training for the Australian Orthopaedic Association, followed by academic appointments to Sydney University as an adjunct associate professor and has been an examiner with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons for over 11 years. He is currently the scientific chairman and a past president of the Asia Pacific Arthroplasty Society and has travelled widely through the Asia Pacific region lecturing and performing surgical demonstrations. Involved in design projects for hip and knee prosthetic implants, he has been an advocate for successful cementless technology for over 20 years.

In addition, A/Prof Sorial is currently the ChiefMedical Advisor for Zimmer Biomet Asia Pacific and extensively engaged in robotic knee surgery and peer education. He has successfully convened over 8 international conferences as scientific chairman and engages with a wide faculty to teach and share current concept techniques.
