Dr Ranjini Rao completed her Medical Degree in India in 2002, and subsequently completed her psychiatry training in the UK in 2012, with advanced certification in Addiction Psychiatry.
Ranjini worked as a Consultant Psychiatrist with the Specialist Substance Misuse Service in the UK for 8 years, where she obtained significant clinical expertise in the integrated care of complex patients with mental illness and addiction disorders. Ranjini was actively involved in development of Provision of Addiction Services and Policies in conjunction with the Welsh Assembly Government. She was an elected chair of the Addictions Faculty of the Wales Royal College of Psychiatrists, and was elected a Fellow of The College in 2020.
Upon relocating to Australia, Ranjini attained her Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatry (RANZCP) in 2021. She has held the position of Consultant Psychiatrist in Barwon Health Mental Health Service and Specialist Pain service since 2020. In addition to her clinical work, Ranjini is passionate about education and training and is the Local Director of psychiatry training at Barwon Health.
At The Geelong Clinic, Ranjini offers inpatient and outpatient assessment, and the management of patients with mental illness.
Ranjini firmly believes in a pragmatic, collaborative and holistic approach to patient care. She underpins her practice with open and honest communication with referrers, patients and their families.
Ranjini lives in Geelong area and outside of work enjoys yoga and jewellery designing.
