Dr Kosala Amaranayake

Dr Kosala Amaranayake is a General Adult Psychiatrist with broad experience, gleaned from working in many hospital and community settings across Australia and Sri Lanka.  

Previously a clinical and academic Psychiatrist in Sri Lanka, Kosala has relocated permanently to obtain fellowship as a Psychiatrist in Australia. Kosala has an appointment to a public mental health service as well as his practice at Northpark Private Hospital.  

Kosala is committed to providing compassionate, collaborative care to his patients, with a wholistic approach.  Kosala provides treatment across a spectrum of mental health problems, including mood disorders, anxiety and trauma-related disorders (PTSD) , OCD, eating disorders, substance use, psychosis and personality disorders.  He has exertise in caring for patients with complex mental health needs, including those with treatment-resistant mood disorders, treatment-resistant OCD and adult ADHD.  

Kosala welcomes referral for inpatient or outpatient care, including patients on WorkCover.   Consulting hours include evenings and Saturdays. Kosala also offers secondary consultations to primary care providers, via Item 291 assessment.
