Dr Renee Eslick is a consultant clinical and laboratory haematologist. She holds a Bachelor of Medicine from the University of Newcastle, graduating with the Faculty of Health Medal. She completed her subsequent specialty training in Canberra, Sydney and Auckland.
Dr Eslick has wide experience in treatment of both malignant and general haematology problems. She has specific clinical and research interests in thrombosis (clotting) and haemostasis (bleeding) disorders. She has particular expertise in the management of blood disorders in pregnancy, and is an accredited obstetric physician with the Society of Obstetric Medicine of Australia and New Zealand (SOMANZ). She is a founding member of the Haematology in Obstetrics and Women’s Health (HOW) Collaborative.
She has been an invited speaker at multiple national and international scientific meetings. She is on the editorial board for Thrombosis Update journal. She is active in clinical research, and was the lead author of recently published Australian and New Zealand guidelines for management of low platelets in pregnancy.
She has a strong interest in medical education, and was the Director of Physician Education at Liverpool Hospital for three years. She is a current member of the Core Education Committee of the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ISTH), the ISTH Early Career Committee, and the Education Subcommittee of the Thrombosis and Haemostasis Society of Australia and New Zealand (THANZ). She is a university lecturer and received the Clinical Dean’s Distinguished Service Award for the University of New South Wales medical school in 2019.
