Dr Robert Sew Hoy was admitted as a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2004 and completed an Arthroplasty Fellowship at the Brigham and Womens' and New England Baptist Hospitals, Harvard Medical School, Boston, Massachusetts, USA in 2004. A Master of Medicine degree, merit award (University of Sydney) was conferred in 2013.

Robert is the Director of Training for Orthopaedic Trainees at the Northern Beaches Hospital, writes the Hip Joint syllabus for the Advanced Orthopaedic Training academic program, is a University of Sydney tutor,and has been a interviewer for the Advanced Orthopaedic Trainee selection process since 2017.

Robert has expertise in direct anterior approach total hip replacement and Mako robotic hip and knee replacement. He performs over 200 hip and knee replacements each year. Other surgeries regularly performed include revision hip and knee replacement, knee arthroscopy, ACL reconstruction, and trauma/fracture surgery.

He is currently Head of the Orthopeadic department at Northern Beaches Hosptial.
